Embracing Ghanaian Technical Opportunities Through Advanced Learning and Solutions

Education is key to sustainable growth and innovation in Ghana and West Africa. Broad and up-to-date technical and vocational skills enable local value creation and quality maintenance, thus positioning local businesses and entrepreneurs as partners of choice to German and European companies.

The German dual vocational training model provides tailored solutions to the evolving economic landscape. The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana leverages the longstanding expertise from the network of German chambers of commerce in Germany and abroad to adapt suitable approaches to skills development for the Ghanaian and West African markets.

The Skills Development Competence Center has supported the skills development initiatives of several companies in various sectors such as training of female truck drivers in the construction sector, training of plumbers using the latest German technology, training on custom procedures in the logistics workers amongst others. The center also offers trainer baseline qualification courses and the certification of courses.

In addition, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) department under the delegation is responsible for Curriculum development for selected training profiles and training providers, quality control and management, including monitoring and evaluating skills development programmes. Among its services also includes Needs assessment and development of suitable “Trainings of trainers”(ToT) and fact-finding missions and delegation trips from Germany to Ghana/West Africa and vice versa.

To conclude, the department also offers a wide range of assistance in the identification and assessment of potential business partners or clients and organizations in B2B meetings, facilitation of capacity-building workshops, seminars, stakeholder conferences, and many others.
