Mining is a major economic activity in the West African region and serves as a pillar for development in many countries. With its vast and largely underdeveloped mineral resource potential, West Africa holds opportunities for German companies engaged in the entire spectrum of mining and mineral resources.
The mining department under the delegation supports the implementation of the Federal Government’s Raw Material Strategy and works in close cooperation with the German Raw Materials Agency (DERA). It contributes to secure and diversify the German mineral resource supply and support German mining suppliers and service providers establishing and growing their businesses in Ghana and the West African region. The Competence Centre aims to be the central point of contact for German companies in West Africa and serves the following objectives: Creating market transparency, supporting cooperation and communication, providing services and promoting German technologies.
The mining department assists in evaluating and identifying potential business partners and clients, as well as taking part in fact-finding missions and delegation trips from Germany to West Africa and vice versa. This includes custom market analyses and sector information on the mining sector in West Africa. The department also engages in private and public stakeholder interaction with up-to-date information on sector activities and facilitates workshops, seminars, stakeholder conferences, and B2B meetings with clients and business partners.
